Gameroom

Dear Gauls!

We are sorry that the new unity version of Asterix & Friends doesn’t work on Gameroom. Since all Flash problems are resolved by the release of the unity version, we suggest Gameroom players play on Facebook now.
Please contact our support team in case that a wrong village is displayed on Facebook, either via mail to support@asterix-friends.com or via the ticket form: https://sproing-support.zendesk.com/hc/en-us (click on “Submit a request” in the top right corner).

Start of unity version on Facebook

Dear players of Asterix & Friends,

when we took over the game from the previous publisher, we knew we had some work to do. The end of Adobe Flash was already in sight and the shutdown date set us a tough deadline for the web and Facebook versions. It also meant that we had to completely reprogram the whole game in a new, future-proof technology – the choice fell on Unity / Web-GL.

Since on January 12th Flash will definitely no longer work, we now have to publish the new Unity version, even if it is not quite finished yet.
We’re starting today with the exchange of the Facebook version. The “web version” that you play via the website asterix-friends.com or third-party providers such as Kongregate will follow shortly.

What does that mean specifically for you as a player?

After a short maintenance, the new Unity version will start for you on Facebook. This does not require Flash or other plugins.
Unfortunately this version still has some bugs and centurion throwing and the race through Italy has not yet been implemented.
We are working on making the game available as quickly as possible in the usual quality and with all the features. We will publish updates regularly and at short intervals to correct these deficiencies.

We are aware that this, in particular due to the lack of the centurion and race features, has a negative effect on you players but also on guilds – we regret this and ask for your understanding and patience.

Please note that the versions on Android and iOS are not affected by the Flash shutdown. So if you link your game to the Facebook version on your Android or Apple smartphones and tablets, you can switch to them and still have all the features available.

Here is a list of things that are not currently working or not working properly in the new Unity version:

Missing features:

– Centurion punch
– Race through Italy

Bugs:

Language:
– It may happen that certain texts in the game get displayed in English despite German or French language setting

Performance / Connection:
– You may encounter lags when clicking buttons, collecting rewards, collecting resources etc.
– Sometimes after playing for a long time, things like collecting sesterce or food, hunting boars etc. don’t work anymore; please reload the game. You should get the “Refresh”-message, but please reload your browser tab via the refresh-button in the browser toolbar.
– There is no automatic logout after a while
– Logout-Button doesn’t work at the moment

Camera:
– Village Map / Egypt: You can zoom in too close and can’t zoom out enough
– Friendsmap: The camera is too far zoomed in

Graphic:
– You may encounter various graphical glitches
– Colored Outlines (when hovering over objects) still include the object’s shadow. If the avatar is standing in front of the object, it will cover the avatar while being hovered over
– Interface elements, icons, and pop-up graphics are not scaled properly yet. Also, they are pixelated. –
– Village icons on friends map are pixelated.
– It might happen that two village icons on your friends map overlap
– Some special effects are still missing or don’t work properly
– Some animations are still missing or don’t work properly
– Quest pointers may occur in wrong places

Tooltips:
– When hovering over objects the tooltips are too big and displaced. It may occur that they cover objects, buttons, or get cut off by the screen.

Sound / Music:
– After fighting a roman patrol, the music gets turned on even though it was turned off before. The music button gets displayed as muted.
– Click-Sound sounds weird at the moment.
– Some other sound effects are still missing or don’t work properly

Chat:
– Whispering doesn’t work right now
– Usernames in chat don’t get displayed correctly right now
– Guild Chat is missing

Harvesting:
– When harvesting resources too fast, the animation could get stuck. Afterward, Pointandclix can’t move and you have to reload the game

Buildings:
– After upgrading the butcher and using Roman Helmets to finish the upgrade, the game crashes the next time you collect sesterce from the butcher. Workaround: Reload game/browser tab after the crash
– If you swap buildings and then try to move them back again, the sign with the building lot disappears and you can no longer place any buildings at this spot
– When crafting an item or upgrading a build / character the timer could get stuck. Please reload in this case.
– When trying to buy a missing item or skipping the crafting / upgrading timer with Roman Helmets it may happen that the button won’t react. Please reload in this case.
– When upgrading a building / character and skipping the timer with Roman Helmets it may happen that the game crashes. You’ll get the refresh-error
– When collecting sesterce it may happen that the game crashes. You’ll get the refresh-error

Romans:
– Fights may get stuck and go on indefinitely. Please reload in this case
– When hovering over an outpost, the “Camp Return Counter” will be displayed.

Brawl:
– If the brawl doesn’t show any opponents please reload

Market:
– When clicking on daily special offers (food) it duplicates the market tab buttons. Reload to fix this.
– Sometimes, after purchasing something in the market, you need to reload the game to get the item

Treasure Chest:
– Game crashes when you hover over the red “close” button (x)

Egypt:
– While traveling to Egypt you may encounter graphical glitches on the World Map
– It may happen that you get stuck in the traveling process (Gaul – Egypt). Please reload and try again.
– If Egyptian workers don’t offer any quests, please reload.
– It may happen that, after the effect of the magic potion is over, the avatar is still marked as “undefeatable” and the battle screen shows “100%”. Also when hovering over the avatar the tooltip shows “Magic Potion: 1 use(s)”. You need to reload to fix this issue.
– The message from Edifis about the palace in danger of collapsing is – apart from the subject – completely empty.
– After Edifis first quest “Welcome to Egypt” the player should get a short text tutorial when clicking at the palace. It doesn’t pop up right now, but you can open it manually by clicking on the ?-Button

If you should encounter bugs or problems while playing that are not on this list, it would be of great help to us if you could report them to us using the following form:

We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all the help, feedback, constructive criticism and moral support that you have given us over the past few months. Without you we would not be where we are and we can promise you that 2021 will be an exciting year for Asterix & Friends. We have some interesting innovations, features and improvements planned and as soon as the Unity version runs flawlessly on all platforms (web, Facebook, Android and iOS), we will concentrate all our resources on these innovations. We hope that you will stay with us and the game as players so that after years of patient waiting you can finally enjoy real innovations.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

The BETA of the remaster web version of Asterix & Friends is here!

After many months of work, we are able to present the Beta of the web version of Asterix & Friends, which will no longer require the Adobe Flash Player!
This version of the “remaster” contains all major features of the current web version. Before we are able to release a final version of the remaster, we need your help to thoroughly test the beta version and find bugs and mistakes.

You can find access to the beta version on our special website: www.asterix-friends.com/de/unity-beta/.
There you will be able to log in with your usual login credentials without additional downloads. The beta version is only accessible via that website.

Please note that you are not playing on the LIVE server but on a BETA server, which is using a copy of your villages. This means that all progress, that you are doing during the beta test, will be lost at the end of the beta. So please make sure not to neglect your village on the LIVE servers!

Eligible for the beta test is every player, that registers on asterix-friends.com for the web version of the game. Players of the Facebook- , Android- and iOS-Versions as well as players playing the game via third party websites, will not be able to participate in this test. We will later update these versions based on the remaster.

Beta testers will be able to test everything that is possible in the current version of the beta. Furthermore, beta testers that report at least one bug can look forward to a reward next month.

To report bugs, please use the bug report form posted on our beta page only – don’t use the support tickets for this.

Beta testers should keep their eyes open and regularly check our beta website for beta news. We will keep you updated about our work on the beta and inform you about maintenances, new versions, and bug fixes.

For questions regarding the beta version, our Community Manager Endorphine and a beta channel on Discord will be available.

After we finished the work on the web version, which had top priority this year due to the end of the lifetime of Adobe Flash, we will focus on new features and improvements, which our game design team is already preparing based on your feedback!

We assure you that soon events will be back in the game and that the long wait will be worth it. We would like to thank you for your loyalty over the years and all your support. Stay safe!

Current situation: End of Flash & solutions

Dear Gauls,

while we are working on the Unity version and hopefully starting the open test phase (BETA test) soon, the end of life of the flash version is moving closer inexorably.

This is the current situation:

– For the Flash player itself, there is a grace period until the 12th of January – after that, it will definitely cease working.
– For Facebook, our current info is that most likely the current Flash version of Asterix & Friends on Facebook will no longer be working on January, 1st.
– It is possible that we won’t be able to release the new Unity version in time on the 1st of January but a few days later.

What does that mean for the players of the different versions?

Mobile (Android and iOS) – Nothing will change for mobile players at the moment – the game will continue working on mobile.

Web (playing via asterix-friends.com) – For web users, our partner Xsolla, who is already providing the account and payment system for that version, has provided a so-called “launcher”. It is a program with an integrated Flash player, that opens a separate window, where you can log in and play Asterix & Friends as usual.
You can download this launcher here: https://installer.launcher.xsolla.com/xlauncher-builds/launcher_builds/7183/3121/prod/web_installer.exe

Facebook (connected to mobile) – If you have connected your Facebook village with mobile (Android and iOS), you can continue playing that village on your mobile device until the new Unity version of the game (without Flash) is running on Facebook again.

Facebook (pure “Facebook village”) – If you only have your village on Facebook, we offer the following fallback solution:
1.) Playing on mobile
Until the new Unity version is live on Facebook, you can of course also play with your Android or Apple smartphone or tablet. Simply download the app in the appropriate store, play the tutorial and then connect the game to Facebook to load your existing village. As soon as the game is available again on Facebook, you can continue playing there as well.

2.) Move to web version
You can also play Asterix & Friends directly on our website or with the new launcher. For this, your village has to be relocated and – importantly – is then no longer available on smartphones or tablets for the time being.

For the move, you have to visit https://www.asterix-friends.com/en/login/ in your browser and click on the blue button “Login with Facebook-Login”. Now, a new “web village” will be created (web, in this case, means: playing via the asterix-friends.com website). In order to be able to continue playing your Facebook village instead of the new village, please write a message to our support team, either via mail to support@asterix-friends.com or via the ticket form: https://sproing-support.zendesk.com/hc/en-us (click on “Submit a request” in the top right corner). Please include the name of your old Facebook village and the newly created village in your message to the support. We will then swap the villages so that you can continue to play your old Facebook village via asterix-friends.com. In this case, you will also be able to use the launcher which we mentioned above (under “Web”) in case you can’t start the game in the browser anymore.

We are working hard to publish the new Unity version as soon as possible but are asking you to bear with us if it takes a few days longer. We have taken the above mentioned measures to ensure, that no player has to go without his village for several days.
